Description
4 1/2" (11 cm.) -10" dolls. 14" x 11" box. Five bisque shoulderhead dolls in graduated size are arranged within a blue heavy cardboard sample box, each with modeled green-brimmed white bonnet over long flowing blonde curls, modeled bodice with green edging, painted facial features, red muslin body, bisque lower arms and legs; the largest model has original crepe paper bows on bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Hertwig, circa 1914, the model appeared in the 1914 Hertwig 50th Anniversary catalog as "nanking puppen" model, available in nine sizes. The Hertwig factory sample boxes had been preserved in secret archives until their auction from the original Hertwig family in 2000. Value Points: important documentary treasures from the important German firm.
