24" (61 cm.) All-composition doll with socket head, very plump cheeks, painted brown eyes, pronounced brown eyeliner, brown eyeshadow, one-stroke brows, tiny closed mouth with primly-set lips, fine brunette human hair wig, jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Condition: very good, little nose rub and possible retouch on fingers. Comments: Burgarella, circa 1930, Rome, Italy, the luxury-based dolls were imported to the US by Hoest and Henderson in 1929; their production lasted less than a decade due to their luxury costs. Value Points: rare and sought after doll with most artistic painting, costumed in dress with yellow felt yoke, border, applique flowers, and with matching double-brimmed yellow felt bonnet with cascading felt flowers and vines, undergarments.
