Description
14" (36 cm.) Each has carved wooden head with deeply-defined hair and facial features, on all-wooden body with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, sculpted fingers, chip-carved lower legs with painted stockings and shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: the dolls were sculpted and costumed in the Harz Mountains of Northern Germany, circa 1880. Value Points: fine detail of carving includes handsome visage on gentleman, carved coiled braid on woman, both wearing their original wool folklore costumes.
