Description
16" (41 cm.) All-wooden carved doll, socket head, intaglio painted brown eyes with white eye dots, black upper eyeliner, feathered brows, closed mouth with center line between the downcast solemn lips, blonde mohair side-parted wig, all-wooden spring-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: very fine professional restoration of face. Marks: Schoenhut Doll Pat. January 17, 1911 USA & Foreign Countries. Comments: Schoenhut, model 306, the model was offered in 1911 and discontinued in 1912; it was inspired by the 114 model of Kammer and Reinhardt. Value Points: rare early Schoenhut model with most endearing expression, original wig, original body finish, with Schoenhut shoes and carrying rare bellows toy of two tin lithographed birds which "kiss" when bellows is squeezed.
