Description
17" (43 cm.) Each has laminated paper mache shoulderhead with amber complexion, solid dome pate, painted facial features, cloth body with stitched-loose-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, oil-painted lower arms and legs. Condition: generally excellent, original finish with some light craquelure. Comments: the doll was extensively researched and written about by doll authority Jo Elizabeth Gerken in Doll Collectors Manual of 1973, tracing the doll to the Province of Canton in China, dating the doll circa 1910/1921, and exploring its similarities to the Chase doll. Value Points: the pair was wearing their delightful original costumes including unique slippers and wonderful caps. A copy of the 1973 Doll Collectors Manual is included.
