Of very fine ivory/silver satin, the gown features a fitted bodice with pleated sheer lace at the rounded neckline above an edging of silver metallic thread that is repeated at the waist and at the hem, and with a richly embroidered crewel-like embroidery with silver thread motif at the center; the skirt with flat front panel edging by darts is also lavishly embroidered with flowers, vines and a center panel in a larger scale than the embroidery of the bodice; the back panel of the skirt is stiffened twill suggesting its purpose as under-gown for long outer robe. Excellent condition. For lady doll 22"-23". 19" overall length. 4" shoulders. 9" waist. Circa 1780.
