The princess-shaped dress is of rich burgundy velvet with rounded shoulder neckline edged with square-shaped collar which overlays a row of stitched-down pleated lace, center panel of ruched burgundy silk, elbow-length sleeves with gathered edges and intricately cut over-sleeves, with draped silk around the hips which frame the velvet box pleats which extend around the entire dress, silk medallion and streamers at back and rows of tiny brass buttons. The dress is fully muslin-lined. For 20" doll. 15" overall length. 5" shoulder width. Excellent condition, some frailty to silk of front panel. Circa 1880.
