Description
14" (36 cm.) Solid domed composition head, sculpted brown boyish hair with defined forelock, painted facial features, large round blue side-glancing eyes, painted upper lashes, comma-shaped brows, tiny mouth, muslin torso, composition jointed arms and legs, sculpted and painted high brown boots. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Effanbee, Skippy was designed by Bernard Lipfert, inspired by the comic strip character of P.L. Crosby; so beloved was the innocent appearing little boy that the doll was made from 1928 into the early 1940s, this example being from the latter era wearing his original pilot's flying uniform of WWII era, including cap and goggles.
