Description
24" (61 cm.) Softly-stuffed stockinette baby, stitch-shaped and painted facial features, blue eyes with white eye dots, defined nostrils and lips, brunette mohair wig, very plump body with stitch jointing at shoulders, hips and knees, defined fingers, antique baby gown and bonnet. Condition: very good overall, some light dustiness. Comments: the doll was patented by Ruth Mackay of Pittsburgh on May 4, 1926, #1583408, simply titled "Head for Rag Dolls" and described as "having a more life-like expression than dolls as heretofore constructed". The doll was marketed as "Baby Sister" and made in the workshops of the Misses Tebbetts, late 1920s. Value Points: rare early cloth doll is seldom found.
