Description
22" (56 cm.) Bisque socket head, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, thick brushstroked brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, open mouth with row of porcelain teeth, shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 10 (and artist check marks). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1895, preserved in her original box labeled "Bebe Francaise Habille Mode Parisienne 10". Value Points: preserved in near mint original condition, with softest blonde mohair wig, aqua silk and lace costume, comprising original dress, bonnet, undergarments, socks and leather shoes signed "Paris Depose 10" with bee symbol.

Sure, the Bebe itself would be considered a later and more typical French model, but there is far more here to consider. Originality is becoming more and more elusive in the market. Especially an example like this that was truly made for a luxury audience. To find these now is difficult. Especially with original signed shoes, wig, and such a vibrant costume.
