Description
13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with solid dome, painted hair with forelock curl, topknot and side curls, brown glass side-glancing googly-like eyes, delicately-painted upper lashes, dash brows, closed mouth with thin line smile, blushed cheeks, composition chubby torso, toddler legs with side-hip jointing and jointing at knees, unusual loop-strung bisque arms with starfish-shaped hands. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Ges Ges O'Neill JDK 12. (head) O'Neill (stamp on foot). Comments: Kestner, from Rose O'Neill illustrations of Kewpie circa 1912. Value Points: largest size of Kestner's socket head Kewpie with excellent bisque and great expression; the luxury detail of jointed knee appeared only on the larger size Kestner Kewpies.

The most elusive size for the glass eyed Kestner Kewpie. The "12" is one that rarely ever appears and is truly at the pinnacle for collectors of both Kewpie and, as well, as crossover appeal to Googly lovers.
