18" (46 cm.) Standing upon a wooden wheeled platform with lithographed paper floor cover is a paper mache figure of Polichinelle with painted facial features, wide smiling expression wearing classic Polichinelle costume with lace, silk ribbons and brass bell trim, a drum with surmounted cymbal held on his back, and brass cymbals held in extended hands. When pulled along, his head bobs up and down causing the drum cymbal to clang, and his arms clang the cymbals held in his hands. Condition: generally excellent, few moth holes in costume. Comments: French, circa 1890. Value Points: amusing toy of the classic French character is well-preserved and functioning well.
