Description
25" (64 cm.) Bisque socket head with full cheeks and chin, deeply set eye sockets, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick black eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the very full lips, upturned lip corners, pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: A 12 T. Comments: Andre Thuillier, circa 1882. Value Points: outstanding sculpting emphasizing the facial planes about the eyes and mouth, finest quality of bisque and painting, original body and body finish, lovely antique costume including signed leather shoes. The doll is shown on the cover of Coleman's Encyclopedia of Dolls.
