Description
22" (56 cm.) All-cloth doll with egg-rounded head, flat-dimensional facial features, oil-painted facial features and brown hair with scalloped curls at forehead and shaded coloring, painted brown eyes with painted all-around eyeliner, single-stroke brows, outlined nose, closed mouth, muslin body with stitch-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent, typical paint scuffs on face, some body darkening. Comments: Columbian Doll presented by Emma Adams at the Columbian International Exposition of 1892, becoming the first American doll to win the coveted Gold Medal. Value Points: very artistic painting especially around the eyes, with original costume.
