Description
16" (41 cm.) w. x 15" h. x 11". Dolls 6"-10". Arranged upon a wooden platform with lithographed paper cover are five dolls posed in a garden setting with two arched trellises of silk flowers; in the back are two seated bisque dolls with blue glass eyes, in seated pose on chairs, their legs crossed, wearing cavalier costumes and holding decorated carton guitars, three bisque head dolls stand at the front, each with blue glass eyes, original bodies and costumes. When porcelain-tip knob at the side is turned, music plays, while the musicians turn their heads side to side and strum guitars, and the three children twirl around and around as though dancing. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1890, Zinner and Sohne. Value Points: delightful and well-preserved musical mechanical toy with all-original dolls and costumes, well-functioning.
