8" (20 cm.) Each is all wooden with carved and painted details, and original costumes on people. Comprising Teddy Roosevelt with brown painted hair and moustache, painted spectacles, with hole drilled in hand for holding object, and wearing original costume including wooden helmet, painted brown boots; two additional members of the Safari troop with original costumes and wooden helmets, one with camera; single humped glass-eyed camel; painted eye giraffe, painted eye zebra and painted eye rhinoceros. Very good/excellent condition. American, Schoenhut, the set was introduced by the firm in 1909, to commemorate Teddy Roosevelt's safari to Africa to collect specimens for the Smithsonian Museum. Included is the book, Roosevelt's African Trip, by Frederick William Unger, 1910, with photographs and illustrations from the famous trip.
