Description
16" (41 cm.) All-cloth doll with chiffon-over-muslin stitch-shaped face, painted facial features including shaded blue eyes with white accent dots, single stroke brows, thin line mouth, and with stitched-on felt ears and red yarn hair, muslin firmly-stuffed body with separately-stitched fingers, jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: very good, some wear to chiffon on face. Marks: Les Poulbottes "Titi" de Poulbot Modele Depose (paper tag). Comments: Titi was designed by Francisque Poulbot, the noted French illustrator, and represents the urchin orphan boy of Montmartre during WWI era. The doll appeared in French department stores for one or two years only, circa 1915. Value Points: very rare cloth version of the Poulbot character, wearing original felt costume and wool cap, and with original label; included is additional model in smaller size with original label "Les Poulbottes Zozo".
