Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, lightly-feathered brows, mauve blushed eye shadow, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, ears pierced into head, blonde lambswool wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with square-cut collarette and shapely torso. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: D. Comments: French, Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1867, the earliest version of the smiling poupee. Value Points: petite poupee with original signed head and distinctive Bru body, wearing wonderful antique costume of ivory and aqua silk.
