17" (43 cm.) Bisque shoulderhead with very plump cheeks, painted blue eyes with darker blue iris rims and decorative glaze at lower rims, dark eyeliner, delicately painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, unpierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, wooden body with dowel jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, kid collarette. Condition: generally excellent, original body finish is rubbed. Marks: Medaille D'Argent Huret...Paris (original label on kid collarette). Comments: Adelaide Huret, circa 1857, as indicated by the Medaille d'Argent which she was awarded at the 1855 Exposition. Value Points: exquisite modeling and painting with distinctive painting of eyes, subtle blushing, lovely antique costume comprising blue silk gown with black beaded trim, undergarments, blouse, bonnet, and leather boots signed C.C.
