18" (46 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulderhead with black painted pate, oval shaped face, small black enamel inset eyes, lightly-painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, original black woven wig under elaborately beaded coiffe, French poupee body with shapely torso and limbs, mitten hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1840. Value Points: the early period poupee has fine original finish and is wearing original richly-detailed folklore costume including brown velvet fitted jacket, and very fine matching color unusual coiffe.
