Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading and darker iris rims, dark eyeliner, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, firmly-stuffed cloth upper torso and upper arms, bisque forearms, and hollow cone-shaped box beneath the long skirt designed to serve as candy container. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: F.G. Comments: Gaultier, the doll was presented as a luxury candy box for prestigious Parisian candy store, circa 1885. Value Points: rare and charming presentation, the doll costumed as governess or nanny, and is holding a beautiful taufling baby in original presentation; the doll was likely presented as at a Christening celebration.
