15" (38 cm.) Arranged under a domed glass globe with rare flat sides is an elaborate arrangement of gilt ormolu leaves, berries and framed mirrors, centering a gilt basket with rose silk tufted cushion upon which is resting a corsage of wax orange blossoms enclosed in lace and ivory silk; a music box, hidden below, gently plays a tune when string at the side is pulled. Excellent condition. French, circa 1885, the tradition of globe de mariage was designed to preserve mementos of a young couple's wedding day.
