Description
16" (41 cm.) All-wooden doll with socket head, painted dark brown complexion over peach undercoat, modeled black curly hair with distinctive fuzzy texture, brown intaglio eyes, pronounced black pupils and upper eyeliner, white eye dots, black single stroke thick brows, closed mouth with defined space between the lips suggesting teeth, brown-complexioned wooden jointed body, holes in feet for posing. Condition: generally excellent, painting is all original, small paint scrape on right neck and hands. Marks: Schoenhut Doll Pat. Jan. 17, '11 USA & Foreign Countries. Comments: Schoenhut. model 204, circa 1915. Value Points: very rare doll, of which only three are known, according to research by Carol Corson, author of Schoenhut Dolls, likely a special commission doll, and wearing its original Oliver Twist suit #820, shown in the 1915 catalog, and Schoenhut ankle boots.
