Description
19" (48 cm.) Bisque socket head with very delicately blushed plump cheeks, amber brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accent dots at eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the very full shaded lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 2 H. Comments: Aristide Halopeau, circa 1880, the unique bebe facial model was commissioned by Halopeau, and decorated for him at the Frayon porcelain firm by the noted Parisian artist, Barnard; only one bebe model was ever offered by Halopeau and few examples were ever made. Value Points: gorgeous doe-eyed bebe with very full sensuous lips enhanced by exquisite painting, original body and body finish, lovely antique rose and lace costume, undergarments, socks, shoes, and fancy silk and lace bonnet.
