Description
16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head, painted small outlined-grey upper-glancing eyes with red and black upper eyeliner, feathered angled brows, rounded nose tip, closed mouth modeled as though open, laughing expression, with shaded and outlined lips and row of painted teeth, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, wearing original lace-edged pinafore over muslin dress, undergarments, ribbed stockings, shoes. Condition: generally excellent, retouch to hands. Marks: C.P. 213 42. Comments: Catterfelder Puppenfabrik, circa 1910, from their 200 series of art character dolls. Value Points: the rarity of the character with previously-undocumented model number, is enhanced by its extraordinary charm and presence, having deeply impressed dimples at both lip corners and cheeks, well-defined eye sockets, superb bisque and painting, and fine antique costume.
