Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass sleep eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and accented lips, brunette human hair wig over plaster pate, composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body, lovely antique costume and bonnet, kidskin shoes marked C.M. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 7. Comments: Kestner, circa 1885, the model closely resembles the French bisque bebe A.T. by Thuillier whose market Kestner aimed to capture and is known by collectors as "A.T. Kestner". Value Points: an especially beautiful bebe with wistful expression, distinctive pointy-tip aristocratic nose, superb bisque and painting, original body and body finish.
