Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head, very large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with richly shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde lambswool caracul wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG Depose 4 (and artist checkmarks on head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1885, earliest period of the tete bebe. Value Points: brilliant eyes enhance the very fine complexion and painting, the bebe is wearing antique mariner style dress, undergarments, woven hat and leather shoes. The doll appeared in the book, In Character, by Florence Theriault, 1991, page 33.
