Description
12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with flattened solid dome, large blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading, long painted curly lashes, curved brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 7. Comments: Sonneberg, circa 1885, mystery maker, the doll was inspired by the circle/dot bebe model of Bru and was an attempt by Sonneberg Germany doll firms to capture the French doll market. Value Points: rare and especially pretty doll with very full cheeks and well-defined sculpting, original body and body finish, original costume, shoes and bonnet.
