Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque shoulderhead with very plump cheeks, painted blue eyes with darker blue iris rims and decorative glaze at lower socket rims, dark eyeliner, heavy eyelids, delicately painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, unpierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, wooden body with dowel jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, swivel waist and thighs. Condition: generally excellent, original body finish. Comments: Adelaide Huret, circa 1857. Value Points: especially fine modeling, bisque and painting of features such as eyes, wearing early blue silk gown and jacket with black velvet trim, blouse, undergarments, black lace cap, and rare high laced heeled boots signed Huret. Included with the doll is her early trunk with trunk maker's label of Caille at 93 Boulevard Haussman in Paris, which contains two ensembles with original Huret stamp at inside waist band, various accessories including bonnet and hat box, bone-handled parasol, red silk folding fan, pince-nez with bird-shaped pin, opera glasses, fine shawl, apron, and various other costume elements.
