Pressed bisque socket head with plump cheeks and chin, large brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve-blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, lovely red silk costume with braid and lace trim, matching bonnet and shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 6 B.M. Comments: Bebe Mothereau, circa 1885, the firm created uniquely beautiful bebe whose head was likely modeled by Alexandre Mothereau himself an artist and sculptor, as well as designer of the unique bodies appearing on his dolls, and holder of the trademark initials B.M. Value Points: rarely-found bebe by this firm, this example with wonderful dreamy expression, beautiful bisque and painting.
