Stuart's Take

It's not usual to see a doll that once graced the cover of a Theriault catalog to return again just two years later, this one featured at Theriault's November '22 event, It was the last doll Mrs. Nievergelt would ever purchase. After four decades, starting in the London markets of Portobello Road in the 1980's, she would close her book of collecting with this doll. I find it to be a fitting end. A doll so joyful, as if reminiscing of the happy life of a collector, that it becomes an exclamation point at the final sentence. May we all leave collecting with such a smile.
