Description
12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with slender elongated facial modeling portraying an older child, painted blue eyes, modeled eyelids with black eyeliner, strong-shaped nose with accent dots, one-stroke brows, closed mouth with accent line between the full lips, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: K*R 107 30. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt, circa 1910, "Karl" from their art character series, based upon an original 1898 sculpture by the famed Berlin artist, Lewin Funcke who Reinhardt had commissioned to create his series of art dolls. Value Points: among the rarest of the character series, the handsome young man has unusually fine detail of modeling, choice bisque and painting, original body finish, and wears finely detailed Tyrolean costume with accessories.
