Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on bisque shoulderplate with distinctive cleft modeling at chin, very full rounded cheeks, blue painted eyes with darker blue iris rims set in well-defined eye sockets, dark upper eyeliner, painted all-around lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with tentative hint of smile, unpierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, blown-leather body with jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (original Huret stamp on kid collarette) (Au Nain Bleu label on body). Comments: Adelaide Huret, circa 1858, with blown leather body deposed by Clement in 1867; the assembly is early and most appropriate as the Clement body is the exact design of Huret gutta percha body (excepting knee joint). Value Points: outstanding doll both in its exceptional beauty and also in its state of preservation, wearing very fine original plaid dress with embroidered blouse, leather belt with attached purse, cap, undergarments, leather shoes.

Stuart's Take

At times I feel there is little to be said about a doll. When It speaks for itself why distract from that moment? I'll leave it at that.
