Rare German Bisque Crying Character in the Bru Look-Alike Manner

9" (23 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head, painted light brown baby hair with forelock curl, painted facial features, very narrow squinting eyes, curvy brows, closed mouth modeled in wide-open crying expression, impressed eye crinkles and frown lines, composition baby body, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 163/0 Germany. Comments: Germany, circa 1910, maker uncertain, possibly Recknagel. The doll is an exact look-alike of the crying face of the two-faced Bru bebe of 1884; the historical connection of the two dolls remains a mystery. Value Points: charming and intriguing little character in wonderful presentation.
