Description
17" (43 cm.) Paper mache shoulderhead with slender oval face and elongated throat, black sculpted hair arranged in narrow coiled braids at crown with large sculpted comb at back of head and feathered curls framing the face, brown painted small eyes with heavy eyelids, single stroke upper eyeliner and brows, closed mouth, muslin body with stitch-jointing at shoulders and hips, red kid stitched-on hands to appear as gloves, stitched-on boots. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1840. Value Points: rare early doll with beautifully-painted hair and eyes, original body and wearing original muslin gown with blue silk bows, undergarments.
