Bisque socket head with very full lower face, sculpted features, deep intaglio upper-glancing blue eyes with white eye dots, heavily modeled eyelids, multi-feathered brows, closed mouth with downcast wistful expression, accented lips, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden fully-jointed body, antique plaid woolen school dress and red velvet cape, undergarments, socks and shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Made in Germany A 4 M. Comments: Marseille, circa 1910, from their very limited series of painted eye character dolls created during the short-lived art reform movement of the 1910 era. Value Points: distinctive painting of the wide-eyed expression enhanced by sculpted detail of eye sockets on this very rare doll, with finest bisque, complexion and painting.
