19" (48 cm.) Bisque socket head, painted facial features, blue eyes in upper-glancing expression, black upper eyeliner, one-stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with smiling expression, row of sculpted and painted teeth, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, mariner costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 151 S&H 7 1/2. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1910, the important firm created only three exclusive art character models for their 100 character series, a beautiful woman, a pensive boy, and this, a delightful merry girl. Value Points: exemplary quality of sculpting defines the laughter lines around the eyes and mouth, featuring impressed cheek dimples and enhanced by finest bisque and painting.
