Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, almond shaped pale blue enamel eyes with darker blue iris rims, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with pale accented lips posed in a gentle smiling expression, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid poupee body with square-cut collarette, gusset-jointing, wooden arms with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows and wrists, wearing exquisite antique silk and lace gown, undergarments, leather shoes signed C.C. and straw bonnet known as "a deux bonjours". Condition: generally excellent, sturdy original body with some typical paint scuffing on wooden hands. Marks: F (head and shoulders) Depose (front crown rim). Comments: the model was deposed by Leon Casimir Bru in 1873 which was the same year that this body which combined Bru's kid and wooden body styles was also deposed. Value Points: rare model with rarer body, and having especially fine expression of smile, fine quality of bisque, and rarer forehead "Depose" mark.
