Description
19" (48 cm.) Bisque shoulderhead, sculpted blonde hair with wispy forehead bangs and casual curls tumbling onto shoulders, sculpted woven bonnet with ruffled blue inner brim, painted blue up-glancing eyes in deeply-set sockets, red and black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, sculpted ruffled neck bodice with painted magenta-edged rose bodice, muslin stitch-jointed body, sewn-on blue stockings and black leather boots, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1890, suggestive of Gebruder Heubach although bisque heads were not mentioned by the firm until 1910; the doll's background remains an intriguing mystery. Value Points: very beautiful doll with finest sculpting and painting.
