Description
18" (46 cm.) Bisque socket head, narrow brown glass sleep eyes in squinting expression, painted long curly lashes, short feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth modeled as though open and crying, defined tongue, shaded and accented lips, dimpled chin, rosy cheeks, brunette mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, mariner costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 148 6. Comments: Hertel and Schwab, circa 1912, a rare model that was offered as this art character or with rubber ball mechanism that produced actual tears. Value Points: very rare model, few examples are known to exist, with deeply defined sculpting around the eyes and mouth, choicest bisque and painting, original body and body finish.
