Description
14" (36 cm.) Paper mache shoulderhead of lady with very slender oval face and elongated throat, black sculpted hair in center part with three rows of ringlet curls framing each side of face, and a tightly-coiled chignon at the back of head, painted blue eyes, black single stroke brows, upper eyeliner, closed mouth, muslin body stitch-jointed at shoulders and hips, red kid sewn-on hands to appear as though gloves. Condition: generally excellent, few light craquelure lines on shoulderplate. Comments: Germany, circa 1850. Value Points: very rare coiffure with excellent detail of curls and chignon, original body and wearing original muslin gown with ruffled trim.
