Description
18" (46 cm.) Bisque socket head with alternate face on either side of head, one face with blue glass paperweight eyes, painted lashes and brows, closed mouth modeled as though open in wide beaming smile; and the other face, which is revealed by turning knob at the top of the head, with narrow squinting eyes, scowling expression, closed mouth modeled as though open in a crying expression, shaded lips and tongue, row of sculpted teeth. The head is enclosed in a cardboard hood which hides whichever face is presently not in view, and is covered with blonde mohair wig, French composition and wooden fully jointed body, antique white cotton lawn bebe dress and bonnet, undergarments, French leather shoes and socks. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 7. Comments: Jumeau/SFBJ, circa 1900, the model features two faces from the Jumeau 200 art character series. Value Points: rare doll with fine detail of sculpting, beautiful bisque, original body.
