Description
24" (61 cm.) Paper mache shoulderhead with oval face and strong elongated throat, black sculpted hair in center part looped low around each modeled ear and forming into a tightly-coiled braided chignon, painted blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, slender kid body with wooden lower arms and legs, painted flat red shoes. Condition: light craquelure and repainting/or revarnishing of head, original body with some patching. Comments: Germany, circa 1850, the hair style was inspired by the popular early coiffure of Queen Victoria at that time. Value Points: regal large size, the doll is wearing fine early cotton gown and undergarments.
