Description
11" (27 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, open mouth, tiny porcelain teeth, pierced ears, brunette human hair over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent, original body finish. Marks: 1 (head) 2 (feet). Comments: 1905, the first model of Bleuette, the premium doll offered by Gautier-Languereau, publishers of La Semaine de Suzette, appearing for one year only, advertised in that magazine as "a beautiful little Jumeau doll of 27 cm". Value Points: the desirable first model of the French doll arguably considered the French 20th century pivotal doll.
