Description
9" (23 cm.) Bisque socket head, painted facial features depicting a pouting faced child, painted blue side/upper-glancing eyes, dark upper eyeliner, curly brows centering the sculpted frowning lines on forehead, rounded nose, closed mouth with downcast pouting lips, blonde mohair bobbed wig, composition toddler body jointed at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent, body retouched. Marks: 8588 Heubach (in square) Germany. Comments: Gebruder Heubach, circa 1912, the intriguing model, of which few examples are known, is a variant of the sculpted hair grumpy model, 8644, as well as Effanbee's composition Baby Grumpy. Value Points: wonderfully defined pouting expression and excellent bisque.
