Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head, very large and deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, lushly-painted lashes, thick black eyeliner, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair wig, cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent, light nose rub. Marks: Mascotte 6 (head) Bebe Mascotte Paris (body). Comments: May Freres, circa 1890, the trademark of Bebe Mascotte was registered by the firm in that year; the dolls were made for a few years only. Value Points: rare to find bebe with original signed and matched head and body, dramatic eyes and eye decoration, original body finish.
