Description
17" (43 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass enamel inset eyes with darker iris rims, dark eyeliner, lightly painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, ears pierced into the head, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid poupee torso and upper legs with gusset-jointing at hips, kid-over-wooden lower legs and feet, dowel-jointing at knees, kid-over wooden upper arms, bisque arms to above the elbows. Condition: generally excellent, body especially sturdy. Marks: 4 (incised on head) Au Paradis des Enfants Perreau Fils, 4, 5, 6 Rue de Rivoli, Rue du Louvre (torso label). Comments: circa 1865, the luxury poupee was sold from the famous Paris doll store at that time. Value Points: beautifully-preserved poupee with most unusual original poupee body, boutique label, and with early gown; included is wooden chair upon which the doll is seated.
