16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with plump rounded face, blue glass eyes with spiral threading and dark iris rims, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows with feathered detail, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with prim small lips and center accent line, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over original Steiner pate, Steiner composition fully jointed body with straight wrists, lovely costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Sie A 1 (incised). Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1882. Value Points: rare early Steiner bebe with wonderful demure expression, finest bisque whose delicate complexion is enhanced by soft subtle blush, splendid eyes, original body and body finish.
