16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with transitional facial model, blue glass spiral-threaded inset eyes with dark eye iris rims, dark eyeliner, delicately-painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the pale outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over Schmitt pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with flat-cut derriere, lovely antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Sch (in shield on head and derriere) 1 (head). Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1882, the facial model is a transitional from their round-face to pear-shaped facial models. Value Points: especially beautiful model with splendid eyes, original signed body with original finish.
