Description
16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with very plump cheeks, very deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with delicately-outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, original metal hands, lovely silk and lace dress in vintage style. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: P. 1 D. Comments: Petit & Dumoutier, circa 1882, the presentation of this uniquely-sculpted doll lasted for barely ten years, beginning in 1878 and is, consequently, very rare to find. Value Points: beautiful bebe with splendid eyes contrasted by dramatic eye decoration, original distinctive body.
